Between 2014 and 2016, nineteen visits to Yosemite National Park with a 35mm camera and black and white film. Rangers and seasonal workers, families cooling off in Tenaya Creek, servers prepping for diners at the Ahwahnee Hotel, crowds maneuvering for the perfect shot of Half Dome. Also documented: what was quietly disappearing — master basket weaver Julia Parker before her retirement, and the Yosemite Valley Stables in their final season of horseback tours. And underlying it all: the absence of the Ahwahneechee, Yosemite’s first people — to whom this work is dedicated.
